Club Event Diary

Weekly Meetings

Part of being in Rotary is the friendship we develop and the fellowship and social aspect of our meetings. We only have one business meeting a month. The other meetings are a real mix of activities and speakers. The following is a variety of activities and speakers that have appeared in our ongoing programme.

St Albans Ghost walk

Speaker – Youth Talk - a local charity we have supported

Evening canal cruise on the grand union

Speaker – Geoff Harrison - The Mayor and Mace bearer

Speaker – David Reid - Sustainable St Albans

Croquet in the Park – then adjourn to a local hostelry

Speaker – Heathlands School – local school for the deaf

Chilean Musical Performance. – An evening like this we invite our partners as well.

Annual events

President’s at Home

Our President invites us to their home for a party in June.

Visits from our Swedish Friends

Every second year we host our Swedish friends from Höör for four days. Outings are organised to places of interest. An Inter Club Challenge Trophy is played. Dinners are arranged in some Rotarian’s homes and there is a typical Inter-Club Rotary Dinner.

Christmas

We always celebrate Christmas with our partners with a three course meal including Turkey followed by entertainment and carols.

Charity Quiz night

Each year in April we organize a quiz night for the lastest appeal by Rotary Foundation Charity. Last year it was for Ukraine

Rotary Young Photographer Competition

The Winners of our Rotary Young Photographer Competition have been announced.

Beth Hawthorne from Queen’s School Bushey won the senior event with a portfolio of three photographs.

The Judges scored her ‘Bee’ photograph ‘Best in the competition’, taken not with a camera but an iphone.

Congratulations to St Albans High School who won the "Foundation" category, to Roundwood Park who won the "Intermediate" category and to Marlborough winners of the "Advanced" category.

Rotary Charity Golf Day Raises Funds for St Albans Special Olympics

Our charity golf day raised over £4500 for St Albans Special Olympics. The photo shows our President Arthur Woolgar presenting the cheque.
